Ingredients Required
- 8 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar
- 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup glucose syrup or corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons shortening or butter
- 1 tablespoon glycerine
Steps To Follow
- Fuse cold water and gelatin. Let the fusion become thick. Now, place the gelatin mixture in a boiler to heat it until it gets dissolved.
- Combine glycerine and glucose and mix them well. Stir the mixture and before it gets melted completely, stir it well in Vanilla extract. Leave the mixture to cool down till it gets lukewarm.
- Put 4 cups of confectioner’s sugar in a large container. Use a wooden spoon to make a hole in the center and pour the lukewarm mixture and stir well. Add sugar and keep adding little sugar till the stickiness disappears. Keep kneading the sugar into the fondant till it gets stretchable, smooth and does not stick in hands. If the mixture happens to get too stiff, add water (only a drop at a time), or if the mixture tends to be too soft, add more sugar.
- The fondant should be used immediately or preserve the fondant in an air-tight container. You can even store it in the refrigerator.
