India, a country having a population of 1.3 billion, has come to halt. Yes, who would ever thought that a country which ran almost 24*7 and which never slept, would be now as stationary as non-living things. Yes, there have been the negative impacts of the nationwide lockdown which has led to a tremendous fall in the economy, suffering labor class, and many startups falling from the cracks. The loss is completely irrevocable and cannot be recovered now. However, there are some positive aspects of the lockdown as well. Yes, there are always pros and cons of everything and the need of hours urges us to look for the positive side of everything that is going near and around us.
No matter how frustrating the lockdown is getting with each passing day, little did we know that it has also done so much for our mother nature. Yes, I am going to share some facts that have been observed during lockdown. See, how beautifully nature is reviving itself especially after losing all its contact with human activities. Let’s dive in:
-
Clearer Sky:
Though the changes we are seeing in our environment is temporary, once everything gets back to normal, we all will contribute a bit in deteriorating nature. Never been the skies appeared so clear and clean.
-
Pollution-Free Rivers:
The holiest river of India, Ganga, was surprisingly the most polluted one. However, it was found amid the lockdown that the water of Ganga has never been this much pollution-free in many years by now. The evidence of the fact is found in Varanasi and Kanpur cities of Uttar Pradesh. The main reason behind this is the complete shut down of the industries. Perhaps, fishes and some rare species of the dolphins have been found floating near the ghats, due to the absence of humans. What a pleasant sight it is to see our aquatic life as well as rivers of the nation, recovering at its best. Similarly, river Yamuna found in most parts of Delhi has been found toxic foam-free.
-
Better Air Quality:
In recent years, the quality of air in India has reached an alarming state. When normally breathing in highly metropolitan cities of India like Mumbai and Delhi was no less than smoking a handful of cigarettes in a day, there is an abrupt improvement in the quality of the air. Yes, you heard me right. The concentration of PM 2.5 and nitrogen dioxide has greatly decreased by 71 percent. The report was stated by the department, World Air Quality.
-
Less Rate Of Crime:
This is one of the biggest relief that has been reported during the lockdown. There is a great margin in the declined rate of crimes like rapes, murder, theft, and more. Even the reports of road accidents have mitigated to a great extent. All credit is to be given to the lockdown. However, there are some incidents of the crimes reported in some parts of the country which again is very heartbreaking but the fewer crime reports have been a major relief in recent years. Don’t you think that it is us humans that are the norms of nature as well as of the human race as well? Yes, we are.
-
Reviving Himalayas:
Due to less air pollution and clearer skies, the Himalayas are now seen from distant states which are reported after decades now. Yes, mountain ranges of Himalayas are now visible from cities like Saharanpur UP and Jalandhar, Punjab.
-
No Noise Pollution:
Due to complete lockdown, people are staying inside, at the same time, vehicles are not allowed on the roads now, this has caused a great decline in noise pollution. The chirping of the birds are more audible than honks. It is so soothing to hear birds and animals rather than hearing the honks.
So, it is quite evident that the human race was hampering mother nature in a way that COVID-19 is what is making us release the same. I urge every citizen to help mother nature revive once the lockdown is over.
