Catch From 2020: What Things / Lessons We Learnt From This Year?

Finally the day has arrived when we will bid adieu to 2020 – it was not very nice meeting you, and please don’t come back ever! A lot can be said about this year, except that it actually taught us some important thighs about life, people and society, basically about the world we live in. You can call it a year of awakening when you were made to attend life lesson classes when you even did not sign up for them. Sure it has been an unkind year for humanity, but if you are able to catch some lessons, it is not a year wasted.

I know when you were taking resolutions last year for 2020, you had no idea that the same day god also made some resolutions and that were to teach us lessons, though in a hard way. We went from tough times to tough lessons real quick and no matter how badly you want to leave behind the year 2020 and whatever came with it. With a hope to start a fresh year, there are some important catches that you should take with you. Here is reflecting back to the year and things that it taught us.

Savings Are Important

It is not wrong to say that this is one particular year when the earth stood still. I mean I never thought it could ever happen considering the fast life that we live, but it happened and we all have witnessed it. Half the year went under lockdown, no movements of goods, sealed offices, slowed the market. All this led to great unemployment and shutting down of many businesses. Even the movement of money was stopped to great extent. No source of income for a few days or months made us realize the importance of savings in life. The people who never saved were in deep trouble. With no earning, people could not even buy essential stuff.  So, it made us realize that emergencies can strike anytime, so it is very important to have savings in your life.

Freedom Should Never Be Taken For Granted

Do I even need to mention this? We all know that what we could only dream about when we were forced to live in the house amidst lockdown. It was the toughest time as we were not even allowed to walk in our own street as the virus was on hunt. We are instigated to do things when we are especially barred from doing it, same was the case with freedom. Since we were not allowed to go out, it instigated us even more. I don’t know about you, but all i could think about was the time when i took my freedom for granted and i’m never doing that again. I do realize that it can be taken away this easily.

Happiness Comes From Small Things

You know what they say, ‘you need darkness, in order to see the light’ , Another important thing that 2020 made us realize that happiness is a choice, not a privilege. You don’t need a big house, luxury car, dinner at fancy restaurants, and pool side parties to be happy, all it takes are the small things in life that can make you a happy soul. We were locked in our houses, all you could do was, spend time with family, watch movies or try some new recipes, All this made sparked the joy of small things in life.

Always Be Thankful

When you could still get food amidst heavy lockdown, it made me realize that how important it is to be thankful for everything that is easily accessible to us. Be it people who were helping you in such times, your house help, everything was available to you, it only sends one message, that be a thankful person and appreciate small things in life.

There Is Always A Silver Lining

One of the greatest catches that i got from this year was, there is always a ray of positivity at the end of the tunnel. I know many have landed in depression while being at home, but a positive attitude can help you survive through the toughest time,

Its important to stay positive and with a ray of hope that 2021 will show some mercy, we are ready to welcome it.

These are some important catches from the freakiest year 2020. Hope to start 2021 won a good note. Don’t forget to eat that piece of new year cake and celebrate. Happy new year you all!
