Ingredients Required for Tiramisu Cake

  1. Ladyfingers (bake as we guide or get 2 packets from the supermarket)
  2. 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  3. Condensed milk
  4. Heavy whipping cream
  5. Strong brewed coffee
  6. Unsweetened cocoa powder
  7. Vanilla extract/ vanilla essence 
  8. Sugar

Step 1: Bake sponge Bar

Action I: Preparation

  • Preheat the oven for 15 minutes at 200° C or 390° F.
  • Grease the pan with some butter. Keep aside. 
  • In a bowl, mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour and ½ teaspoon of baking powder

(if using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt)

  • In a pan, heat ¼ cup salted butter and ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • Add 3 tablespoons sugar & half cup water.
  • Allow the mixture to come to a boil at low heat

(keep mixing it with a spatula to ensure zero lumps)

Action III: Preparing Batter

  • When the blend comes to a boil, pour it into the flour mix
  • Add ½ teaspoon vanilla essence or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Keep stirring the mixture with a whisk

(ensure a medium consistency. If required, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot water to get the desired consistency.)

  • After ensuring zero lumps, pour the batter into the greased pan.
  • Gently shake to avoid air bubbles & smoothen the top using the spatula
  • Let it bake for 30-35 minutes at 200° C or 390° F.

Insert a toothpick at the center of the cake when the time is complete. If it comes out clean, your sponge is ready. Otherwise, bake it for another 5-7 minutes.

  • Unmould the sponge when it cools down
  • Cut the sponge vertically & horizontally to give it a finger-like shape

Step 3: Make Filling for Tiramisu Cake

Action I: Prepare Coffee Mixture

  • Heat 1½ cup of water until it comes to a vigorous boil.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of coffee powder after turning off the heat.
  • Keep it aside to let it cool down.

Action II: Whip the Cream

  • Take a large bowl, add 200ml of heavy cream
  • Whip it using an electric mixer
  • Set the whipped cream aside.

Action III: Create the Mascarpone Filling

  • In another bowl, take 200ml of mascarpone cheese.
  • Using a whisk, whip it until it comes smooth.
  • Add 6 tablespoons of sugar & mix it well.

(ensure a light & fluffy texture)

  • Mix the mascarpone cheese filling & cream well.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence.

Step 3: Prepare Tiramisu Cake

  • One by one, soak the ladyfingers into the cooled coffee mixture for a second or two.

(do not over soak as it may become soggy and fall apart)

  • In a serving dish, arrange a single layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers.
  • After the first layer is done, spread the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.

(use a spatula to smooth it from the top)

  • Dip more ladyfingers in coffee. 
  • Arrange them on top of the cream.
  • Spread the mascarpone mixture over the second layer again.

Step 4: Chill & Set

  • Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours or overnight.

Step 5: Serve

  • Before serving, dust unsweetened cocoa powder at the top of the Tiramisu Cake using a fine sieve or tea strainer.
